Sheffield Doc Fest Youth Jury Applications Now Open




Sheffield Doc/Fest is thrilled to welcome the Youth Jury programme for its 11th year in 2017. Five young film enthusiasts will be offered the opportunity to meet key figures within the industry, curate a selection of films for the Festival, and select the winner of the Youth Jury Award announced at the Sheffield Doc/Fest Awards Ceremony.


If you are aged 18-22, based in the UK, and have a passion for documentary and the media industry, this is the programme for you.


This free programme is a tremendous way to see how an international film festival and jury work, and will allow you to have your say about the best documentary films being made today. Previous Youth Jury Award Winners have included Sonita (2016), 3 ½ Minutes, 10 Bullets (2015) and The Internet’s Own Boy: The Story of Aaron Swartz (2014).


Applications are open until Monday 9 January 2017 at 12:00 (midday GMT).


Interviews will be held at the Sheffield office on Thursday 19 & 20 January 2017. Unfortunately we cannot cover travel for this, but please do get in touch to discuss further.

Calling All UK-Based Filmmakers Aged 16-25!




Rural Media has teamed up with Borderlines Film Festival 2017 to create the Best Short Film Award for Breakthrough Talent.


We’re on the lookout for new film-makers…the deadline for submissions is 16th December so you’ll need to get your skates on!


All the finalists will have their films screened at the festival as part of a ‘celebration of young talent’ event and a panel of film industry professionals will select the winner, who will receive £500 in prize money.


Borderlines Film Festival, the UK’s largest rural film festival based in Herefordshire and Shropshire, will be celebrating its 15th anniversary in 2017 and Rural Media, a Herefordshire based production company and charity producing award-winning films and digital arts projects, have joined together to celebrate and give a new platform for first time and emerging film-makers.


There is a submission fee of £25.00 which can be paid via Paypal, cheque or bank transfer. Please note any submissions received without the £25 fee will not be considered.


For initial submission, films should be sent either via a password protected link, a file transfer service such as WeTransfer or via a hard drive to the Rural Media offices.

One Hour Intro: Isabelle Huppert as Actor and Star of International Cinema

Isabelle Huppert is a major figure in French cinema with over 100 film productions to her name. What makes her such a ‘go to’ actor in France and for international productions?


We will offer a 1 hour exploration of ‘star image’ and her approach to film acting, followed by a full screening of Private Property, a family drama with Isabelle Huppert as the mother of two grown-up sons who live with her in a house bought for them by their father, now divorced from Huppert. She wants to sell the house against the wishes of her sons and their father.


Tickets prices are £9 full price and £6 concession, tea and coffee will be provided
