A Cat in Paris  (Une vie de chat)

Many KS2 teachers have invested time and energy into developing a solid foundation of teaching Foreign languages to their pupils. Since the change of government, primary schools are no longer required to continue with this but many have chosen to, after seeing the benefits to their pupils.

Reel Solutions has  a close association with the British Film Institute and has worked within their education department to develop training days for teachers and pupils.  This is an unique opportunity for children to experience a range of clips and shorts based around the target language and these are supported with activities focused on speaking and listening skills and vocabulary development.

For many young people, it is their first experience of watching a feature length film in a foreign language and after seeing Y5 children clapping and cheering at the end of a Spanish feature film, it opens up  a whole new world of possibilities.

Bonjour les enfants

This is a fantastic day which offers KS2 children and their teachers the chance to experience an aspect of French culture through film.There are a combination of short films, extracts from feature films and related activities of listening, speaking and vocabulary work during the morning. The children have activity packs and there is a resource pack for teachers.

The afternoon has a screening of a feature film in French with subtitles. This course has been successfully run in conjunction with the British Film Institute for the past three years and offers an insight into French culture as well as being an opportunity for total immersion in French  for a day.

 

New Resource for French Teachers

Thursday 9th December 2010 saw the official launch of Ciné-minis – a DVD compilation of 12 short French films aimed at KS2 and KS3. It comes with a teaching guide and online support material.It is an unique and fabulous resource.

Hola Ninos

This day is modelled on the French day  in that there are a combination of short films, extracts from feature films and related activities of listening, speaking and vocabulary work during the morning.

The afternoon has a screening of a feature film in Spanish with subtitles.This course has been run twice in conjunction with the British Film Institute and the feedback  from the pupils and teachers was fantastic.
