Digital Cinema

Digital Cinema and 3D

Are you Ready?

Thursday 9 June

Fee £20

Venue: National Media Museum

In this day workshop you will learn all you need to know about digital cinema. The major studios are rumoured to be ready to end the production of 35mm prints in early 2013 and the major chains in the UK will be all digital by the end of 2012. For many small cinemas this could be the final straw.

If you haven’t made the change to digital then this is an essential day for you and your team to learn: what is a digital print, how do the projectors work, what does it mean for staff; how can you pay for it; is it easy to go to 3D; and what glasses do you use. What is alternative content and can it fund the installation? Even if you have made the change it would be great to meet and find out what others are doing and if we can work together.

On the day there will be an opportunity to look round the Museum’s projection boxes and see the equipment in action, talk to front of house staff about how to handle 3D glasses and meet representatives from the Digital Funding Partnership, Arts Alliance and successful digital cinema projects in North Yorkshire.
