A HISTORY OF THE FANTASTIC FILMS WEEKEND (2002 – 2011)

The Fantastic Films Weekend began in 2002 as an event focusing on classic ghost stories and the supernatural. Under the direction of Tony Earnshaw it evolved into a must-attend event showcasing a disparate line-up of classic chillers, sci-fi shockers, fantasy epics, vintage TV shows and rarely seen gems from the vaults. Tony focused on different individuals who have made a real and lasting impact in the fields of science fiction, horror and fantasy. He paid tribute to Terence Fisher, Nigel Kneale, Richard Matheson, George A. Romero and Douglas Adams and celebrated the work of special effects guru Bob Keen as well as Hammer make-up maestros Roy Ashton and Phil Leakey. His line-up of guests included Harry Kümel, John Hough, Peter Duffell, Julian Richards, Jenny Agutter, Piers Haggard, Michael Armstrong, Robert Fuest, Mike Hodges, Robin Hardy, Brian Aldiss, Peter Sasdy, Lawrence Gordon Clark and Jonathan Miller. Between 2002 and 2011 Tony presented 10 editions of the Fantastic Films Weekend.
