Academy Award winning actor and well known crooner Bing Crosby was born on this day in 1903.

As well as his successful career as a singer, Crosby won the Best Actor Academy Award for Going My Way (1944) and two further nominations for The Bells of St. Mary’s (1945) and The Country Girl (1955).

Between 1940 and 1962 he had a successful partnership with Bob Hope in the ‘Road To’ series of films, including Road to Morocco (1942), Road to Utopia (1946) and Road to Bali (1952) but he is probably best known for the films Holiday Inn (1942), White Christmas (1954) and High Society (1956).
