On this day in 1968 black comedy The Odd Couple was released in the US. Written by Neil Simon and and based on his 1965 play of the same name, the film stars Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau as two divorced men, obsessive compulsive Felix Unger (Lemmon) and fun loving slob Oscar Madison (Matthau), who decide to live together after Felix is kicked out by his wife.
The films was the fourth highest grossing film of 1968 in the US received critical acclaim on it’s release, including the following Academy Award nominations:
