BFI Film Academy
BFI Film Academy Short Courses are delivered at over 50 locations across the UK and supported by the UK Government’s Department of Culture, Media and Sport, National Lottery, Screen Scotland and Northern Ireland Screen. Reel Solutions have delivered these introductory hands-on short filmmaking courses since the start of the BFI Film Academy programme back in 2011 in Leeds, Bradford, Chester and Scarborough.
BFI Film Academy wider programme strands also include residential BFI Film Academy Specialist training courses, BAFTA mentoring and additional activity delivered by BFI Film Academy Plus partners, supported with National Lottery Funding, including: Labs, Scene, Recommends, the Future Film Festival and Young Programmers.
The Academy programme helps train and inspire the next generation of UK filmmakers, and supports talented and committed young people aged 16 to 19 (up to aged 25 with an EHCP) to develop the commercial and cultural knowledge and skills to help build a career in film and television. The BFI Film Academy Short Courses are free to attend and no previous filmmaking experience is necessary.
Reel Solutions have been delivering a BFI Film Academy Short Course in Scarborough, North Yorkshire since 2024. To apply and for more information see our reelfilmmaking website.
